Portland Wedding Advice and Words of Wisdom
by Rev. Dr. Terri Daniel
This list of my best Portland wedding vendors has been compiled in collaboration with colleagues throughout the Portland metro are. It is a work-in progress, and is updated regularly. If you've had a positive experience with a vendor, let me know, and I'll be glad to recommend them.
Many vendors are just starting out, and I strongly recommend supporing them by helping them grow their fledgling businesses. At the same time, you also want vendors who are well-established and come with stellar recommendations from past clients. So how do you balance those two things? If they don't have a long of list of dazzling Google reviews, would you still be willing to work with them? A newbie might be willing to give you a huge price break just to get their foot in the door.
The most important thing is to follow your heart. You'll start by looking at their websites and get a feel for their messaging. How does their digital marketing communicate visually and verbally? Call, text or email them. Do they respond quickly? Are they friendly and engaging? If not, move on to the next vendor on your list.
Meet them in person, ideally at their place of business so you can see them in their natural habitat. Are they organized? Did they show up on time for your meeting?
It's really no different that hiring any other employee. Look for the same qualities... reliability, communication skills and resonance with your mission.
